Priti Patel, patron of Witham Brainwave and the Conservative Party parliamentary candidate for Witham, visited staff at the Beecham House centre.
Brainwave support children with conditions and development needs, including Down's syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy, and Priti has been a long-term supporter of the local charity.
Priti met with Gerry Gould, Brainwave's South East Community Manager, and saw the new equipment recently donated by local businesses.
She said: "Brainwave are an outstanding local charity who do fantastic work with local families. It is a privilege to be their patron and to see how they help children develop new skills.
"I commend the local businesses who have donated and everyone who fundraises for this excellent charity. Their support for Brainwave means that they can get this important new equipment and carry on the outstanding service they provide."
Gerry Gould, Community Manager for Brainwave Children's Charity, which offers therapy to children with disabilities and additional needs to help them achieve their potential, said: "It was lovely to have Priti Patel visit our Children's Therapy Centre based in Newland Street, Witham recently, where we were able to show her our new Interactive sensor floor and various additions to our exercise therapy equipment.
"We really appreciate this visit to us by Priti and the support we receive from various groups, companies and individuals in Witham as it costs us £3,500 per year per child to keep on our exercise therapy programmes and we do not receive any Government funding."
