The Conservative Party's English Manifesto has backed better transport links in Essex, including a commitment to fund the feasibility study into improving the A120, the upgrading of the A12, and the new infrastructure and services needed to deliver a high performing rail service for commuters.
Priti Patel, the Conservative Party Parliamentary Candidate for Witham and Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, is a long-time campaigner for these measures and welcomed the Conservative Party being the only Party to commit in their Manifesto to the improvements.
Priti said: 'The Conservative Party is getting behind jobs and growth in Essex. Our manifesto commitment to upgrade the A12, improve rail services and invest in the A120 feasibility study will alleviate congestion on our roads, improve connectivity and help get the whole of Essex moving.
'I am pleased that our manifesto acknowledges the tremendous contribution we make to the economy and the support and investment a Conservative Government will put into new infrastructure in this area.'
She added: 'The last Labour Government completely neglected this part of Essex and the Labour Party's current plans, which would wreck the economy, not only ignore the County but would put this crucial investment in growth and jobs at risk.
'Only a Conservative Government elected at the General Election will ensure that our roads and rail services are modernised and receive the investment they need.'
