Priti Patel, Conservative Party parliamentary candidate for Witham, visited Perrywood Garden Centre and Nurseries. Here she was met by general manager Simon Bourne who showed her around the nursery and the changes made since her last visit.
Perrywood earlier this year achieved great success at the Garden Centre Association Annual Conference when they reached 6th place in the GCA's top 100 British garden centres and it was also named a 'Garden Centre of Excellence.' Furthermore an employee was voted the UK's best young garden centre employee.
Priti said: 'Perrywood Garden Centre is going from strength to strength with the fantastic news that they are one of the best garden centres in the country. It was great to visit Perrywood and see how well their business is doing.
'Perrywood is an asset to the Witham Constituency. They have shown through employing young people how rewarding and beneficial it can be to a business as one of their young employees was voted the UK's best young garden centre employee.
'I wish them all the best for the future and look forward to visiting again soon.'
Simon Bourne, general manager of Perrywood Garden Centre, said: 'Perrywood Garden Centre has enjoyed great success this year and we enjoyed showing Priti Patel around. We have taken on extra staff and increased our turnover. Priti was very interested in our range of products, the production area and the scale of the business - having been built up from a small holding over the last 30 years.'
