Following the sad news that Roger Mannion, Colchester City Councillor for Tiptree, has passed away following a long illness, I wish to pay tribute to Roger.
Roger was a great friend to many in Tiptree and beyond. As well as being a dedicated public servant, he had a brilliant sense of humour and it was a privilege to work with him.
Roger had served as a City Councillor since May 2021 and had been a Parish Councillor and Parish Council Chairman prior to his election. He always stood up for Tiptree residents and was instrumental in winning planning appeals against unwanted development in the village. He was also successful in ensuring that most of Tiptree has defibrillator coverage.
We will miss him and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
